It’s Monday. The weekend is in the rear-view, the alarm went off too early, and the voice in your head is already negotiating: “Maybe just hit snooze… maybe skip the 6 a.m. class…”
We’ve all been there. But here’s the truth that separates the people who transform their bodies and lives from the ones who stay stuck:
Progress lives in the reps most people quit on.
One more rep when the bar feels like it’s made of concrete.
One more round when the clock says you have 3 seconds left.
One more breath when every fiber in your body is screaming “enough.
The reality is that the last three or four reps are what make the muscle grow. That’s what separates the champions from everyone else.” We are not just talking about today’s workout—we are talking about life.
At CrossFit Sunnyside, we see it every single week. The athlete who almost dropped the bar at 8 reps but grunts out 10… the one who collapses after the final burpee but still stands up smiling… the mom who hasn’t worked out in years but finishes her first workout and says, “I didn’t know I could do that.”
That’s where the magic happens. Not in the warm-up. Not in the easy sets. In the place where it hurts and you keep going anyway.
This week, we challenge you to live in that place for just a few extra seconds every workout.
- When the metcon feels impossible → give us one more quality rep.
- When the coach says “10 seconds left” → sprint like your life depends on it.
- When you’re attempting a weight you’ve failed before → attack it like you’ve already made it.
Because every time you choose “one more” instead of “I’m done,” you’re not just building muscle. You’re building unbreakable belief in yourself.
This Monday, walk into the gym and commit to being the person who does the rep everyone else skips.
